Enchanted Rock

Legend states Tonkawa Indians named this popular 425-foot pink granite batholith, believing a Spanish conquistador cast a spell on it, making magical ghost fires glow at the top. This rocky area is an easy outdoor climbing destination for top rope and lead climbing. As the park is littered with smaller boulders, bouldering is also available with many routes of easier difficulty.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area contains the a large pink granite dome with many other smaller boulders in the surrounding area, making it a great casual climbing destination. With a whole park to explore, climbing might be only part of the adventure. The area contains 66 top rope routes, 39 sport routes, and 108 bouldering routes there will be plenty to do.The park is open almost completely year-round with camping options for prolonged stays. Entrance fee is $7 for adults and free for children under 12 years of age. Enchanted Rock is located in Fredricksburg, Texas, which is located in central Texas. It is a fair drive for those in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, but a trip is worth it if planned well.
